I have a general question about the Tom method? I work shift work and a lot of times on Tuesdays. I work a double shift and then on Wednesdays is my husband day even though I work in the evening, we have the morning off together then. Part of me wants to just do some of my cleaning on the weekend so that I can have Tuesdays and Wednesdays more free are you able to just switch days around?

I like decluttering but not cleaning, I'm always trying to declutter and get away from the actual cleaning! 😅

Morning Gemma thanks for this. I think it'll put me in a good headspace for organising this year, as itll be my first since separating from my husband and with us with shared custody of our two boys. It's been really hard to motivate myself to stick to TOMM because my house feels empty half the time. I can't explain it! But just to say thank you for 'holding my hand' as I go through this really emotional time xx

I resonate so much with this!! When i find some energy and morivation, i spend a whole day perfecting a room (often loosing motivation part way through) and then knowing i dont have that same energy to perfect another room, i just dont bother!! The last time every single room looked nice at the same time was the day i got my keys before we unloaded the truck!! Before we sold our old house and started the packing process, i kept up with tomm for months!! Now i cant seem to stay consistent

Thankyou for posting. I'm at the stage where I enjoy tidying places but not actually cleaning. But I've done it before, and you are so right in saying, it really saves me time and I was much happier. I didn't mind ppl popping over unexpectedly. My aim over the holidays is to declutter the areas I need to and give it a good wipe them hopefully I'm ready for Tom in September.

You’re an inspiration. I was once obsessively clean about everything. People would tell me my home was for living in, not a show house. When I became disabled, my obsessiveness was away from cleaning and strictly on my health. I can’t seem to break away from that.

I recognize so much in her story. And with me it’s no longer a small child but lack of energy to do it. When I need some inspiration I will look this video again 😊

I just feel like I'm constantly in bootcamp mode as I don't like to chuck things away, I like to sell things to give them a second life. but with that comes mess because you have to store the things your selling while you are waiting for them to sell.

You can buy rust proof ones. They’re not expensive and … now bear with me … you don’t have to spend time cleaning rust off of them I’ve had mine a year, quick wipe is all that’s needed and it’s as good as new

Actually, most of December is Advent, not Christmas. The twelve days of Christmas start December 25th and end just before Epiphany, which is January 6th. If we kept the authentic tradition, we would not get tired of the Christmas season.... When you think about it, decorating after Thanksgiving is ridiculous because there's nothing to celebrate until the birth of Christ...THEN the real season begins!
